Chennai Corporation to develop 3.4-km-long road to connect MRTS stations in Chennai

Chennai Corporation will soon develop a new road connecting Velachery, Perungudi and Taramani MRTS stations. The land for the project has been handed over by the Railways to the Chennai Corporation.
The civic body has invited bids for the 18-metre-wide 3.4 km road. The road will have one metre-wide cycle tracks on either side with street furniture. The road will ease traffic congestion in Velachery, Taramani, Perungudi, Rajiv Gandhi Salai and Taramani Link Road.
A number of motorists proceeding towards areas such as Tambaram from Thiruvanmiyur will use the road. The road will also improve patronage of MRTS by improving non-motorized transport.
