Security Licence for Amma Canteens

Applications for security licence have been submitted by the ‘Amma’ canteens. And these are expected to be granted within a week.
There are 200 Amma Canteens at Chennai. Variety rice items such as pongal, sambar, lemon, and curry-leaf are sold at Rs. 5/- per plate. Curd rice is sold at Rs. 3/- per plate. Idly is sold at Rs. 1/- per piece. With good quality and reasonably low price, these canteens have become very popular and are always crowded. 2 Chapathis at the rate of Rs. 3/- will also be available shortly. Amma Canteen is available at RGGGH (Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital) Amma canteens are opened at some city corporations also. Plans are under way to open Amma canteen at other hospitals as well.
The state government has taken steps to obtain the licence for this. In the first stage, licence has been applied for 108 Amma canteens in Chennai City with the application fee of Rs. 2,000/-. The liecences are expected to be issued in a week’s time.
