CCTVs to monitor Ranganathan street

As the Diwali festival is nearing, the key shopping spot – T.nagar is filled with crowd. This in turn has increased the risk of pickpockets. The city police has decided to take preventive measures to avoid such robberies. CCTV cameras will be installed in Ranganathan street and other nearby shopping areas. Few of these cameras will have face detection techniques. It is believed that these cameras will help in identifying criminals.
Speaking to a police official, he stated that a sum of 16 CCTV cameras will be installed out of which 8 will have face detection system.
