A fine of Rs. 1.6 L is paid by the MTC for the Drivers breaking the rules

The metropolitan transport corporation buses have become a menace to the public on roads. To the point, the MTC has paid a fine amount of Rs. 1.62 lakh towards the violation of traffic signals in just a year’s time. Over, 3, 267 cases have been registered by the traffic police against the MTC bus drivers between the periods from April 2012 to March 2013.
Besides, the record also states that the MTC buses were involved in about 564 accidents during the same period. According to the report provided by R. Saiyasodharam, who filed RTI petition, said that MTC is found to be the only largest violator the Chennai traffic rules and they cause frequent accidents.
