Flexible working hours for ONGC onsite workers

Though there is a rule for the working hours of the laborers as 8 hours in a day with 1 day weekly off in the Labor law, this cannot be followed in the case of ONGC on-site workers who work in the oil rig and refineries. This weekly off is not viable for the laborers since the locations of oil fields are far off says Michael Dias, secretary, Employers` Association of Delhi and a member of the Council of Indian Employers. Amending the labor law which is a decade old is not easy as it has to pass through Parliament.
So the Government official reported that the working hours issue is being examined and a decision is to be expected soon.
