From Kodambakkam to Perungudi: Chennai Soaked in Rainfall, Meteorological Shift Sparks Yellow Alert

The downpour that commenced yesterday afternoon in Chennai has ceased at dawn, leading to the declaration of a school holiday today. The meteorological department reports the formation of a low-pressure area over the southeast and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal, expected to move west-northwestwards in the next 6 hours, gaining strength as it evolves into a low-pressure area over West Central Bay of Bengal.
Anticipated to intensify further, the weather system is projected to transform into a deep depression off the Andhra Pradesh coast on November 16, moving northwestward. Subsequently, a northeastern trajectory is predicted, reaching the northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast on November 17. Consequently, a yellow alert has been issued for Tamil Nadu.
Notable rainfall figures have been recorded in various parts of Chennai, with Kodambakkam and Kathivakkam receiving the highest at 8.4 cm. Alandur closely follows with 7.6 cm, while Anna Nagar, Thiruvika Nagar, and Teynampet experienced 7.1 cm, 7 cm, and 7 cm of rainfall, respectively. Perungudi recorded 6.8 cm, and Adyar received 6.7 cm of rainfall. These measurements were documented between 6 am yesterday and 6 am today.
