New Express trains to Velankanni and Tirupathi!

Train passengers have been appealing to the Railway Administration emphasizing their various demands regarding the extension of train services and introducing new trains.
The Railway Administration studies these requests, conducts surveys and approves some of the demands now and then.
In this aspect, the Railway Board has approved the proposal to introduce new trains between Ernakulam and Velankanni and Tirupathi and Kollam. Out of these, the Ernakulam-Velankanni train trains are to be operated twice a year for a 2-way trip. This train will travel via Sengottai, Rajapalaiyam, Sivakasi, Virudhunagar, Aruppukkottai, Karaikkudi, Aranthangi, Pattukkottai, Thiruvarur and Nagappattinam to reach Velankanni.
The new train from Kollam to Tirupathi will be operated twice a week including the return trip. This train will travel via Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tirupur, and Coimbatore to reach Kollam.
Further, approval has been given to link the train routes which were operating separately between Mayiladuthurai-Trichy, Trichy-Karur, and Salem-Karur and operate this train between Mayiladuthurai and Salem as an express.
The Railway Board has also approved extending the services of the currently running Palakkadu-Thirunelveli known as the `Palaruvi Express Train` up to Tuticorin.
