The Tamil Nadu State Government Minister for Religious Endowment, P. K. Sekhar Babu, has announced that special medical camps will be organized tomorrow (Tuesday, 21st June) in all 200 wards of Chennai Metro City to prevent diseases related to the rainy season.

The recent heavy rain in Chennai Metro City has severely affected the daily lives of its citizens. In response, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has emphasized the urgent need for relief actions. As a result, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) and the Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) have jointly undertaken emergency relief activities.

Due to ongoing activities in the past six months in Chennai Metro City, the water stagnation in several areas has been reduced. However, six trees were uprooted, and 24 trees were damaged in 30 locations across the city. These have been cleared, and traffic has resumed. The Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has deployed machines to eliminate stagnant water in 1530 locations.

TANGEDCO has assigned 2260 staff to work in 138 locations, and six pieces of electric equipment and 200 tree-cutting machines are prepared for operation.

The Minister of Hindu Religious Endowment stated that special medical camps will be organized in all 200 wards under the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) to prevent diseases and infections during the rainy season. These camps will be set up in response to local demands. The Minister personally inspected the progress of stagnant rainwater removal at Thiru. Vi. Ka. Angalamman Street and Ganesapuram Subway.
