Chennai tanker operators to go on strike from June 1, threatening water supply

Chennai tanker operators affiliated with Chennai Metrowater have announced a strike from June 1. The strike is expected to disrupt water distribution in South Chennai and parts of North Chennai.
The association has cited several reasons for the strike, including prolonged delays in filling points at Area 9 and inadequate operations at Area 1. They have also raised concerns about discrepancies between the computerized system and the logbook entries, leading to misallocation of street supply and the unfair blocking of GPS-tracked lorries from their assigned trips.
The association has urged the authorities to address their grievances and avert any prolonged disruption to the essential water distribution services in Chennai.
