Great news!! Convenient & hassle free services from RTOs to the public in Chennai!- 42 additional contactless services from RTOs!!

Regional Transport Offices are usually overcrowded and to avoid this the Transport Dept has approved the implementation of 42 additional contactless services. By this, RTOs would be able to provide convenient and hassle free services to the public. There are already 6 contactless services that are being provided by the RTOs to the citizens now. It is now said that the 42 services would be provided to the citizens in addition to the 6 already existing services.
In the future, there would be no need for the public to visit the RTOs for driving license, conductor license, vehicle registration and permits etc. By online, the contactless services could be availed.
Information collected is that out of total 42 contactless services 22 would be related to drivers and conductors licences and the rest 20 would be related to motor vehicles and permits etc.
Various new contactless services that would be provided by the RTOs to the public are address change, name, photo, signature in the learners license, issue of duplicate driving license, change of name, biometrics, DOB in DL etc plus the issue of international driving permits, renewal of conductor license etc.
Application for temporary registration of motor vehicles, application for issue of duplicate certificate of registration RC, grant of NOC for RC etc. These are the other services that would be available online for the public. With the help of Aadhaar card as ID proofs, the contactless services would be provided to the public.
