Good News for the State Government Employees: Dearness Allowance increased by 4%!!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has announced that the current monthly Dearness Allowance, which is presently at 38%, is being increased by 4% to 42% for all Tamil Nadu State Government employees and teachers, starting from the 1st of April.

In a notification released by the State Government of Tamil Nadu, it is mentioned:

"The State Government of Tamil Nadu, dedicated to implementing various welfare schemes to benefit the common citizens, acknowledges the significant contribution of State Government employees and teachers. Despite the acute financial crisis, debt burdens, and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, the government has been gradually implementing welfare measures for the State Government employees and teachers.

In light of this, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has considered the appeals of the government employees and teachers and has issued an order to increase the Dearness Allowance from the current 38% to 42%, effective from the 1st of April.

Consequently, the present Dearness Allowance, currently at 38%, will be increased by 4% to 42% starting from the 1st of April. This order will benefit 16 lakh State Government employees, teachers, and pensioners.

The State Government of Tamil Nadu will incur an additional expense of Rs. 2366.82 Crores. However, in consideration of the welfare of State Government employees and teachers, the necessary funds will be allocated by the State Government for this purpose.

Furthermore, all appeals submitted by Tamil Nadu State Government employees and teachers regarding the Dearness Allowance will be thoroughly scrutinized, and the State Government will take action accordingly whenever the Central Government announces an increase in Dearness Allowance!"
