Degree courses in Thavil, Nadaswaram in Chennai college - Sensational announcements made!!

In the Legislative Assembly in Tamil Nadu, the minister for Arts, Culture and Archaeology, Mr ThangamThennarasu announced this.

He announced that the students studying in the government colleges across the state would be provided training in arts and for this an amount of Rs 1.7 cr would be spent. The main aim behind this would be to preserve and develop art forms in TN.

An amount of Rs 18 lakhs would be used to start degree courses for the students in thavil, nadaswaram etc in Chennai and in Thiruvaiyarru govt music colleges. It is learnt that in the Govt Gavin Arts Colleges in Chennai three new classrooms with all the facilities and library would be built at a cost of Rs 20.92 crores. At a cost of Rs 20lakhs, the biographies and works of several legendary artistes would be digitally documented and preserved at Tamil Nadu, Literature, Music and Drama Council.

For the cultural exchange programmes through Tamil Nadu Literature, Music and Drama, the funds allocation would be increased to Rs 50 lakhs  An amount of Rs 1.09 cr would be allocated to increase the grant amount of TN Folk Artistes Welfare Board plus for purchasing office equipment etc.

It was mentioned that at a cost of Rs 10 crores Chennai Govt Museum buildings would be repaired and renovated. To list the collection of all the museums, a dedicated software called museum information system would be developed. The sensational piece of information is that to know about the ancient cultural traditions of TN chronologically, an archaeological and history atlas would be prepared.
