Super news!! Mangoes could be purchased at cheaper rates this summer season!!

The happy news for the mango eaters now is that in this summer season mangoes would be available at cheaper rates and this is due to bountiful harvest from the orchards ofSalem in Tamil Nadu.
It is now said that when compared to 2022 (when the cost of mangoes was high due to low productivity), the cost of mangoes in 2023 would be much cheaper.
Though the mango season has started well in 2023 the arrivals of mangoes haven`t yet picked up till now. Hence, now the prices are on the higher side only. Mr. A. Jayapal, president of Salem Mango Traders Association explained that by the middle of April month, mangoes would start flooding the market and this would lead to reduction in the mango rates. He hinted that the mango prices would be 10% less in this season
It is noteworthy that mangoes like senthoora, alphonsa, imam pasand etc are grown in the Salem based orchards and these mangoes are then brought for sale in the wholesale markets.
As the flowers shed downand failed to become fruits, the mango yield was poor last summer season( due to heavy rains) but now there has been a bountiful mango yield as the days have been warmer in the flowering season. There has been a consistent flowering pattern now and due to this the farmers are also hoping for an extended season. Now, 20tonnes of mangoes have been reaching Salem market and then they get distributed to many parts of TN. This was according to a wholesale mango trader.a
