Tamil Nadu Engineering Counselling to Start in July to Meet AICTE Deadline

Posted on: 05/Apr/2023 6:16:42 PM
Tamil Nadu`s engineering admissions have come under scrutiny for their tight admission schedule, with experts warning of potential wastage caused by the September 15 deadline set by AICTE. As per the schedule, counselling for engineering courses is set to begin in July, several weeks before MBBS counselling.

Experts have expressed concerns that students who secure a seat in MBBS counselling may forgo their engineering seat, leading to significant wastage. In response, the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) committee has introduced a new rule mandating students to pay the college fee within seven days of seat allotment, or risk losing their seat.

However, academicians are requesting an additional 10% of seats to be added in order to avoid vacancies. The TNEA committee has yet to respond to these concerns.

The tight admission schedule and potential wastage caused by conflicting counselling dates have raised questions about the efficiency and effectiveness of the admissions process for technical courses in Tamil Nadu.
