The cleanest beach in Chennai now is making many heads turn!!

A survey was conducted by GCC in the month of March. According to this survey, it is now confirmed that the Thiruvanmiyur beach with 100 points is the cleanest beach in Chennai. Compared to the last 2 months, the cleaning drive has reduced now in the beaches in the city.
To make litter free zones, the zonal officers have been asked to intensify the cleaning works, inspect shops and seize the banned plastic items. It is worthy to mention that the contribution of the public towards making the beaches litter free has been zero. This has led to many stray animals on the beaches eating the leftover foods etc.
The beach at Thiruvanmiyur has been ranked one (by the survey conducted from 16th to 29th of March 2023) with 100 points and was followed by the beach at Thiruvottiyur with 90.18 points. It has been found out that the cleaning works carried out in the beaches using machines and sanitation workers have reduced. In the month of February 2023 almost all the 7 beaches in Chennai scored maximum marks but in March the points were reduced for the beaches in Marina, Palavakkam, Neelankarai and Akkarai beaches etc.
As per a senior zone official of Adyar zone, already beach cleaning machines are being used and sanitation workers clean the beaches. He added that in the night lighting arrangements were made to help the conservancy workers. He explained that during regular intervals shops were inspected and fines imposed on the violators etc. It is known that all the beaches except Akkarai beach have toilet facilities.
