Sudden shifting of the famous Mahatma Gandhi Statue at the Marina Beach in Chennai?

Chennai residents would have been familiar with the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Marina Beach.
The news now is that this statue would be relocated temporarily due to the metro rail construction works. From the present location, the statue would be placed at a distance of 25 metres. For this, preparations are underway and this was according to an official from CMRL.
It is noteworthy that phase-2 metro rail works are on 3 routes for a distance of 118.9km. It is worthy to note that out of 3 routes one route is Lighthouse- Poonamallee Bypass. From Light House-Kodambakkam Power house the route would be underground and from the Power House to Poonamallee Bypass it would be an elevated route. The elevated works are going and the underground works will start soon.
In a short period of time, the construction of Light House metro station and the underground works would start. The CMRL has set up barricades for the distance of one km for this work near the famous Gandhi Statue at Marina beach. Hence, the statue of Gandhi would be relocated to another place temporarily. A higher offer from CMRL expressed his thoughts.
He spoke about how the Mahatma Gandhi statue would be relocated at a diStance of 25m away from the current place and how setting up of a pedestal has been going on now. He threw light about how a giant crane would be used to lift the Gandhi statue safely and place it in another place. In another 10 days, this relocation of the statue will be done.
