CMWSB: Consumer Cards WILL NOT BE GIVEN from 1st April!

For the consumers of drinking water supplied by CMWSSB (Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board), consumer cards are given once in 5 years.
Presently, consumer cards have been given valid from the year 2020 – I/2020-21 to II/2024-25 for all Chennai Metro City Drinking Water consumers.
In this situation, with a decision to encourage digital payment of consumption charges and also reduce the time wasted standing in long queues to make payments, a task has been undertaken to remove the system of paying by consumer cards!
The officials have informed us that after the last payment made using the consumer card, NO MORE ENTRIES WILL BE MADE ON THIS CONSUMER CARD!
It is further announced that NO NEW CONSUMER CARDS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AFTER 1ST APRIL!
AS SUCH, THE CONSUMERS HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO VISIT THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF CMWSSB ABD TO PAY BY CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS OR NET BANKING!
It is further announced that arrangements have been made for the consumers to pay the drinking water and sewerage consumption charges using the UPI, QR Code, and PoS!
Further, the consumers can also access all related details while visiting the official CMSSB website including pending unpaid charges and also download the receipt after making payments.
CMWSSB has further informed us that the receipt obtained while making payments at the Collection Centres will be valid as a receipt!
