Quality certification for 6719 ration shops in Chennai & across TN!!

In about 5 months, as many as 6719 ration shops have obtained ISO or quality certification.
Across the state of TN there are about 35000 fair price ration shops that provide essential commodities for the public at subsidized rates. In the majority of these ration shops, the top as well as the side walls are damaged and it is unhygienic.
It must be noted that Mr. Radhakrishnan, cooperative and food dept secretary of TN announced Namma Paguthi Namma Ration Kadai scheme.In the month of August, Mr. Radhakrishnan gave orders to zonal joint registrars to renovate and paint the damaged ration shops. He also ordered the zonal joint registrars to publicize the TN government`s scheme. In every district in TN, the renovation works have been going on at several ration shops.
Mr. Radhakrishan has advised that the well maintained ration shops must obtain ISO 9001 for Quality and ISO 28000 for safety management and for distribution efficiency.
Information is that the officials of the cooperative societies have been in the process of obtaining certificates from ISO now. Till now, for 4978 ration shops ISO 9000 and for 1741 ration shops ISO 28000 has been obtained.
