Greater Chennai Corporation: Street, Road cleaning tasks intensified with the latest hi-tech equipment!

Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has undertaken the task of cleaning the Chennai Metro City streets and roads at night with the help of 78 latest hi-tech gadgets (Mechanical Sweepers)!
In Chennai Metro City, many stresses and roads (and the sides) under the jurisdiction of the Greater Chennai Corporation have deposits of fine sand and dust particles and these enter the rainwater drainage system and block them!
To clear this, 78 Mechanical Sweepers have been procured by the Greater Chennai Corporation and used for cleaning the roads and streets during the night sessions.
As regards the areas of Thiruvotriyur, Manali, Madhavaram, and Ambattur (a part), the cleaning task has been contracted to a company `Chennai Enviro` for cleaning with 15 Mechanical Sweepers.
As regards the areas of Tondiarpettai, Royapuram, and Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar, Ambattur (a part), and Anna Nagar, cleaning is undertaken by GCC staff with 16 Mechanical Sweepers.
Further, in the areas of Teynampet, Kodambakkam, Valasarawalkam, Alandur, Adyar, Perungudi and Sholinganallur, the cleaning task has been contracted to a company "Urp[esar Sumeet` with 47 Mechanical sweepers.
Thus, a total of 78 mechanical sweepers are being used!
Giving due attention to the traffic congestion during the daytime, these mechanical sweepers are used only at night! With this equipment, a cleaning task covering an average of 20 km - 25km is being carried out. GCC Officials have ordered that along with the roads where buses operate, the interior roads and streets also MUST be cleaned!
