The Police Department has announced that complaints can be made on noticing students travelling dangerously hanging in the buses!

In a circular sent by the Managing Director of the Chennai Metro Government Transport Department, it is mentioned:

"In the Chennai Metro Buses, it is observed that the students of schools and colleges have the habit of travelling by standing on the footboards and getting in and out at every bus stop!  An awareness guideline in this regard has already been sent emphasizing the need for the bus driver and conductor and the parents to warn, caution and advise such students!

However, the habit of student traveling on footboard in the city buses continues in a few areas and as such the following guidelines are given to be strictly adhered to:

As per this, if students are found hanging on the footboards of the buses or travelling dangerously risking their life, the driver/conductor duo MUST stop the bus AND ADVISE THE STUDENTS TO STOP THIS AND TRAVEL SAFE!

If the students refuse to listen to the advice given by the driver and conductor of the bus and continue dangerous travel, the driver and conductor MUST stop the bus immediately without hindrance to the traffic on the location and complain by calling 100 and the State Transport Department of Telecommunication!

AGAI, REMIND US THAT IT IS ENTIRELY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUS DRIVERS AND CONDUCTORS TO ENSURE THE SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS RIDE SAFELY AND ACT AS REQUIRED!
