Prevention of FAKE electricity consumption Bill Receipts: TANGEDCO introduces a new MODEL receipt!

To prevent fake electricity bill consumption receipts, TANGEDCO has introduced a new single ‘MODEL’ BILL when payments are made ONLINE!
The electricity charges can be paid at the Electricity Board Centres, Government E-Service Centres, Post OPffcies, and some banks!
Apart from this, the electricity bill can be paid on the official TANGEDCO website and some other websites including ‘Bharath Billpay’!
For certain specific services such as new electricity connection, change of name, temporary connection, change of bill payment category, etc., the consumer has to APPLY ONLY ON THE OFFICIAL TANGEDCO WEBSITE.
The payments to be made for the above services MUST ALSO BE PAID ONLINE!
So, the receipts for payments issued at the TANGEDCO Payment Service Centres WILL BE IN COLOURS AND WOULD CONTAIN THE DETAILS OF THE TANGEDCO BANK ACCOUNT DETAILS AND OTHER INFORMATION!
At the same time, the receipt issued for ONLINE payment WILL BE in WHITE and DISPLAY DETAILS LIKE THE NAME OF THE PAYER AND THE PAYMENT DETAILS. At this juncture, it is established that most citizens are unaware of the exact procedure to pay the Electricity bill!
As such, when citizens are visiting Private Internet Centres for paying Electricity Bills, various complaints are received that the owners inform them that they will pay from their bank account while actually, they don’t do it! As such, the affected public has been complaining!
To prevent this maloperation, the newly introduced system gives a uniform type of receipt in all the payment centres!
An official from TANGEDCO, while sharing this information, shared:
“Until now, different types of payment receipts were issued while making payments ONLINE and while paying through other service centres! Several complaints were received in this regard! To prevent this, the same type of receipt is given in all the payment systems henceforth!”
