When the double decker elevated road project between Port and Maduravoyal comes into effect in Chennai, then a large portion of heavy vehicular traffic would be kept off the roads in the city!! Sound`s Incredible right!!
It is now revealed that by the middle of May or June in this year the work on the double decker elevated corridor between Port and Masduravoyal would be started. Truth is that a few more clearances are needed to start. This was mentioned by some sources belonging to NHAI or National Highways Authority of India.
A general area drawing clearance from the southern Railways or SR was needed by the NHAI for constructing 2 bridges over the railway line at Chintadripet and at Nungambakkam.
It was later revealed by an officer from NHAI that 6.525m clearance would be provided and wanted the line to be locked during the construction. Moreover, the clearance from CRZ or coastal regulatory zone was also needed and it has been kept pending by the central govt.
By 24th January, the tenders for this project have been slated to be opened and by 31st March the letter of agreement would be provided to the contractor. The officer later highlighted that since it was under the engineering procurement construction mode the contractor would have 1 month to tie up with respect to the finance part. The officer added that afterwards only work would be started. He later hinted that by the months of May or June 2023 the actual work would be carried out.
