New connections within 30 days plus nominal amount etc - New task by CMWSSB in Chennai?

By the end of the month of January 2023, CMWSSB or Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board would be upgrading its online application webportal for providing drinking water and sewage connections etc. In the year 2019, the web portal was launched for providing new connections to the buildings with 3 floors. Established in 1978, CMWSSB is a statutory board of Govt of TN that provides water supply and sewage treatment in chennai.
Point to be noted is that for buildings of more than 3 floors, the owners would have to go to the metro water office for water and sewage connections . This would also apply for other commercial buildings too. The bitter truth is that these have not only been causing delays but also middlemen interfere and create issues. To avoid unnecessary issues, CMWSSB has decided to upgrade its website.
The superb piece of information is that the new connections would be provided within 30 days provided everything is correct without any issues. This Was mentioned by an official belonging to CMWSSB. It is learnt that the metro water department has got 9.91lakh drinking water and sewer connections and 13.96 lakhs consumers paying tax. Sewage as well as drinking water connections would be provided to the economically weak sections at a nominal rate.
For this, the buildings must be used only for domestic purposes and not for commercial purposes etc. Another criteria is that the buildings must have just 500 sq ft as built up area. It is worthy to mention that the charges are Rs 100 each for drinking water connections and for sewage connections.
