When the weather is cold, it is important to eat certain foods to combat the cold weather. The decrease in the temperature during winters would lead to many diseases and health issues etc for the people. This is mainly due to the low immunity in us.

Therefore, in the winters, it is highly necessary to eat those foods that would improve our immunity and make us resistant to health issues and diseases etc. The temperature inside the body must be increased and for that we must eat certain types of foods. This would make us feel warm in the winter season.

There are few foods that would keep us warm & healthy in the winters. These are

Intake of ghee:

The presence of medium chain fatty acids or MCFA in ghee makes ghee more superior to other fats and oils etc. This MCFA would get absorbed directly by the liver and then would get burned to provide us the much needed energy. Our immunity levels would be boosted by intake of ghee having butyric acids. The digestive health would also improve by consuming ghee in the winters.

Intake of sesame seeds:

Our digestion would become better and we would be able to avoid issues like constipation by consuming sesame seeds that are rich in fibre content. In the winter season, the pain as well as inflammation etc would become more. In this scenario, it is essential to consume sesame seeds that have got bioactive compound sesamol.  This sesamol would inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory chemicals in us.

Intake of ginger tea:

By consuming ginger, thermogenesis would be stimulated. It must be noted that thermogenesis refers to the dissipation of energy through the production of heat. It occurs in the brown adipose tissue etc. Being a diaphoretic, consuming ginger tea would keep our body warm from inside out.

Intake of mulethi tea:

Also known as liquorice root, mulethi is a commonly used herbal ingredient in many immunity boosters,  healthy drinks etc. Mulethi has got glycyrrhizin, a chemical and this gives sweetness to this herb. It is superb to drink mulethi tea especially in the cold winter seasons as it has got anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties etc.

Intake of Tulsi tea:

For any winter oriented sedentary diseases etc, it is superb to consume tulsi tea. This tea would boost the immune system to a huge extent and also reduce the stress and anxiety in us. Viral infection etc would be prevented as tulsi would act as an immunomodulator.

Intake of Bajra or ragi:

By intake of bajra or ragi, our body would be kept warm in the winter season. In addition to this, we could get several health benefits like diabetes control, improves heart health, prevents constipation issues etc.
