Chennai residents to get total relief from the mosquito menace in Chennai from January!!

Mosquitoes` menace has been an important issue in many localities belonging to the Chennai city especially in the winter season. Till now, fogging is being used to mostly tackle the mosquitoes issue in Chennai and soon it would be replaced by drone based operations. Now, the GCC is preparing for the transition to drone operated methods.
Full fledged drone operations would start in the month of January 2023 and it would be superb for the Chennai city. The residents would be able to find the difference between fogging and drone operated methods. This was as per some officers belonging to GCC.
Important residential localities like Adyar, T. Nagar, Velachery, Sowcarpet and Vyasarpadi etc have witnessed increase in the mosquito menace now. It was mentioned by a resident from T. Nagar that they have not seen regular fogging activity by the Chennai Corporation now.
According to a resident from Velachery, for the last few weeks mosquitoes have increased to such an extent that many residents were unable to sleep in the nights peacefully. This despite burning mosquito coils etc. As per an officer from GCC, water bodies would be focussed first and then drone operations would be done on the storm water drains.
It must be taken into note that mapping of those SWD that carry water throughout the year in April- May would be done by GCC. This would be done to figure out illegal sewage connections. The temperature at which the mosquitoes breed would also be logged. It is true that when the drones were used earlier as pilots it was found to be 95% efficient. The residents along the water bodies found the drone method very effective and they gave positive feedback also after the pilot.
The residents would be getting huge relief from the mosquito menace as the GCC would be targeting the mosquitoes at the larval stage itself. On a daily schedule from January onwards, drones would be used extensively to eradicate mosquitoes. Information is that on Mondays drones would be used in the water bodies present in zones like Thiruvottriyur, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar and Valasaravakkam etc. On Tuesdays, drones would be used on the water bodies present in zones like Manali, Ambattur and Alandur etc. It is worthy to mention here that the larval density prior to drone larvicides and a day after spraying would be recorded.
