Greater Chennai Corporation: Time extended for payment of Property Tax!

Time Extension has been given for the payment of Property Tax for this financial year`s second half for the areas under the jurisdiction of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) UNTIL 15TH DECEMBER!
In a notification released by the Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi regarding this, it is mentioned:
"As per the Rules and Regulations of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), .for the property owners who pay the property tax within 15 days of the start of each half of the current financial year, a discount of 5% from the tax up to a maximum of Rs. 5000/- will be repaid!
The review was taken regarding the status of In the first half of the current financial year, presently, the Property Tax for the second half of the year is being paid by the property owners from 1st October.
On this, to pay the revised property tax without any special interest, an extension was given until 15th November. As such, 5,92 Lakhs property owners have paid the Property Tax with no dues!
Now, with the onset of the Northeast Monsoon Rainy Season and giving due consideration to the health of the property owners, TIME EXTENSION HAS AGAIN BEEN GIVEN FOR THE PROPERTY OWNERS TO PAY PROPERTY TAX DUE UNTIL 15TH DECEMBER!
So, the property owners who have not paid the Property Tax until now can now pay the due property tax through
- The Property Tax collectors of Greater Chennai Corporation
- Using the QR code given in the receipt
- Through the internet
- Through some selected banks
- Using the cell phone Apps Namma Chennai` or PayTM
Pay in the centres functioning in the zonal or ward offices of GCC
I appeal to the property owners to avail of the above payment arrangements and pay the due Property Tax before 15th December and avoid the penalty of 2% extra interest for delayed payment!"
