"The Northeast Monsoon Rainy Season commenced this year throughout Tamil Nadu! Especially from the 1st week of September, `conjunctivitis` or `Madras Eye` has been spreading increasingly!

As regards the Chennai Metro City in this respect, there are government hospitals for eyes in 10 locations. Apart from the Egmore Eye Hospital, including Stanley, KMC, Royappettah, Omandurar, Omandurar Multi-specialty hospital, and Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, there are 10 hospitals for eye care.

In these 10 locations, there are 80 to 100 patients daily affected by Madras Eye.

As regards the entire Tamil Nadu State, 4000-4500 citizens get affected daily by the `Madras Eye`. There are 90 locations in the State of Tamil Nadu including Medical College Hospitals, district government hospitals, and the local circle Hospitals where eye treatment centres operate!

Since the onset of the Northeast Monsoon Rainy Season, treatment given to the citizens affected with conjunctivitis or Madras Eye is around 1.5 Lakhs.

It may be noted, no one has been affected by the loss of eyesight.

Conjunctivitis or Madras Eye is created by the virus bacteria which affects the white part of the eye!"
