TANGEDCO - SUGGESTIONS TO PREVENT ELECTRICITY ACCIDENTS DURING THE NORTHEAST MONSOON RAINY SEASON!

With the onset of the northeast monsoon rainy season shortly, TANGEDCO (Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Company) has given certain suggestions to prevent electrical accidents in this season!
In a notification released by the Thirunelveli Zone Chief Engineer K. Selvakumar, it is mentioned:
"The northeast monsoon rainy season has commenced in Tamil Nadu! As such, it has been raining in the southern districts. In this situation, here are certain guidelines to prevent electricity-related accidents during the rainy season:
- Don`t go near transformers, electric poles, wires, junction boxes, and stay-wars.
- In case water is stagnated near the transformers, electric poles, junction boxes, or stay-wires, don`t go near! Please call the nearest TANGEDCO office nearest and inform them about this!
- In case electric wires have cut and fallen, do not go near and do not touch them, please! Report this to the nearest TANGEDCO office and take care that no one else comes near or touches the open wars till TANGEDCO staff arrives!
- During thunder and lightning, do not stand in the open air or under tees, electric poles/pillars! Stand under buildings with concrete roofs! In case there are no safe buildings nearby, go to the nearest lower area and stay. DURING THE THUNDER AND LIGHTNING, DO NOT USE ANY ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT, CELL PHONE OR TELEPHONES. DO NOT STAND NEAR OPEN WINDOWS OR GRILLS!
- In case there is water leakage in the house while raining, there are prospects of current leakage in that area! So, AVOID USING ELECTRICITY IN THAT AREA!
- In case trees/branches fall during the heavy rain and fall on electric wires, do not try to cut them and remove them! As green trees can conduct electricity, while cutting trees near electric wires/poles, there are prospects for electric shock for the person cutting the tree! SO, WHILE CUTTING TALLER TREES LOCATED NEAR ELECTRIC WIRES, CALL THE 24-HOUR SERVICES `MINNAGAM` (Electricity consumers` service) calling 94987-94987 – 24-hour service – and inform.
