Revised Motor Vehicle Act: Chatting on cell and driving - Penalty Details

The revised Motor Vehicles Act by Tamil Nadu State Government is effective from today (Wednesday, 26th October) in Tamil Nadu.
The Traffic Police are undertaking activities to collect the revised penalties from the offending drivers.
The central Government revised the Motor Vehicles Act last in 2019 and the State Government has now released on 19th October on the revised penalties and other details. As such, this will be effective in Tamil Nadu from today - Wednesday, 26th October. And the Traffic Police are acting accordingly!
- Chatting on the cell phone and driving - Penalty - Rs. 1000/-
- Caught chatting and driving a second time - Penalty - Rs. 10000/-
