The protest against the upcoming second airport has gone to the next level now!!
It is well known to us now that the second airport in Chennai would be coming up at Parandur. This would be carried out on 4700 acres of land by acquiring 12 villages in Parandur and its nearby areas. The villagers are not interested in this.
Now, the villagers belonging to these villages in and around Parandur have shown their unwillingness by not sending their kids to the schools yesterday.
It must be noted that right after Parandur was named as the location by the Central government for setting up of the second airport the villagers have been against that. Every day, till midnight, the villagers have been protesting.
Black flags have been hoisted by the villagers and a letter has been sent to the collector during Gram Sabha for changing the location of the second airport.
To attract the attention of the government, the villagers of Parandur have taken their protests to the next level now by not sending their kids to the schools. There are few primary, middle schools in places like Meleri, Nelvoy etc and about 200 students study in these schools. Yesterday, the classrooms belonging to these schools were empty without students.
