Huge burden for commuters - Increase in the parking rates at St Thomas metro station in Chennai!!

Many commuters who use the metro trains at St Thomas Mount metro station were surprised about the increased parking rate. It must be noted that yesterday CMRL increased the parking rates at this metro station and this has caught the attention of many now.
The parking rate for 4 wheelers here has been increased from Rs 2000 per month to Rs 3000 per month now. Likewise, the parking rates for 2 wheelers have been increased from Rs 250 TO Rs 400 per month.
The SR or southern railways have increased the parking rates at the suburban Mount station from Rs 250 per month to Rs 450 per month and now CMRL too has increased the parking rates at the metro station at St Thomas Mount.
It was brought to light by a circular from CMRL that for 4 wheelers the tariff was increased to Rs 20 for 6 hours or less. The tariff was increased to Rs 30 for 6 to 12 hours, Rs 40 for 12 hours plus, Rs 100 for parking after service hours and Rs 3000 for monthly parking. It is learnt that for 2 wheelers the tariff has been increased to Rs 400 per month and for other timings the tariffs is below Rs 50.
As per a PR professional working in Teynampet, his 4 wheeler monthly pass got expired and he was asked to buy a new one day pass for Rs 150. He spoke about how he was made to wait for an hour for refusing to buy the one day pass. He concluded that after much discussion he was provided with a monthly pass for Rs 2000.
Parking rate of Rs 3000 plus travel expenses would cost the same as using a private vehicle. It would be a huge burden for many regular metro train commuters.
