Anthroposophic medicine heals body, mind and soul

Dr Micheal Evans from UK was here on Sunday to deliver a lecture on ‘The art and science of anthroposophic medicine’ and prepare doctors for a two-day workshop on this integrated medical approach.

Anthroposophy is a combination of conventional medicine, homeopathy and naturopathy with a spiritual touch. “It is an extension of conventional medicine but reduces the use of chemical and toxic drugs,” said Dr Evans, a pioneer in this field.

According to Dr Evans, health issues are due to the imbalance in the interaction of body, mind and soul. So, the approach uses antibiotics to heal the patient physically, art or music therapy for the emotional level and counselling helps patients find their own solutions and heal them spiritually.  “If a person comes with back pain, first we give him conventional medicine. If it persists, we give him anthroposophic medicine that will reduce his pain, find the cause and proceed with movement therapy, called erythemic therapy,” said Dr Evans at the 11th M V Arunachalam Endowment Oration, organised by Neurokrish, a neuropsychiatry group and Trimed, a chain of integrative medical therapy centres.
