Pongal trip booking to southern Tamil Nadu: tickets booking gobbled up in no time!!

The booking of train tickets for travel to native places for the grand occasion of Pongal commenced today (Thursday, 15th September) and GOT COMPLETED ONLY INA FEW MINUTES WITH WAITING LIST COMMENCED!

Pongal, the most important festival of the Tamil People and known as `Thamizhar Thriunaal`, falls on 15th January 2023. Mattu Pongal will be celebrated on 16th January and Kanum Pongal on 17th January. These 3 days have been declared holidays by the State Government of Tamil Nadu.

To facilitate the citizens who work in cities including Chennai Metro City, away from their native places, visit their native places as a tradition to celebrate the Pongal festival. To facilitate this travel, booking for train tickets has commenced today (Thursday, 15th January, today).

Train Booking can be done 120 days in advance on the ticket counters in the railway stations or ONLINE, by visiting the official website of IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation).

For booking to travel on 12th January, the booking commenced on 14th September. For travel on 13th January, the booking commenced on 15th September (today). For travel on 14th January (1 day before the Pongal festival), the booking will commence on Friday, 16th January (tomorrow).

Accordingly, the booking for travel on 13th January, opened today AT 8.00 AM AND GOT COMPLETED WITHIN A FEW MINUTES!

ESPECIALLY, THE BOOKING FOR TRAVEL TO MADURAI, THIRUNELVELI, SENGOTTAI AND THE OTHER SOUTHERN DISTRICTS GOT FILLED WITHIN A FEW MINUTES!

All tickets for the Chennai Egmore-Sengottai superfast train got sold out! Similarly, the tickets for trains to Kanyakumari, Thirunelveli, and Pandian Superfast Express, got filled so fast that no booking can be done now even on the waiting list!!

The Waiting List for booking to Madurai, Thirunelveli, Sengottai and other trains has more than 200 on the waiting list!

As such, many passengers who intended to book tickets were disappointed and put to hardship!

Further, for the return journey after celebrating Pongal at the native places, booking for return travel on 15th January (Pongal) commences on 17th September. For travel on 16th January, booking is set to commence on 18th September. For travel booking for a return trip on 17th January, booking commences on 19th September, For travel return trip on 18th January, the booking commences on 20th September!
