Will the Voter ID be cancelled if NOT linked with the Aadhar card?

Even as the rumours are heavily floating around that the Voter ID card will be cancelled in case it is NOT linked with Aadhar Card, THE ELECTION COMMISSION HAS ANNOUNCED: "IT IS NIT MANDATORY TO LINK VOTER ID WITH AADHAR CARD!"
The system of linking Aadhar Card with Voter ID cards was implemented last year to prevent all maloperations in elections.
The Central Government Law Minister Kiran Rijju informed in the parliament that the linking Aadhar card with Voter ID can be done on individual preference/interest! He explained IT IS NOT MANDATORY TO LINK an AADHAR CARD WITH a VOTER ID!
In this situation, the Public Relations officer of the Trinamul Congress Party, Saketh Ghokale complained that there are rumours that election officials are threatening the citizens that it is MANDATORY to link Aadhar Card with voter ID and in case the Aadhar card is NOT linked with Voter ID, the name will be removed from the Voters` List!!
This issue became hot and was discussed in depth in social networking media!
As such, the Election Commission has come up with an explanation on this issue:
"The Form 6-B, meant for linking Aadhar Card with a Voter ID card, IS NOT MANDATORY! This is based on individual preference basis! Please note that NO NAMES WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE VOTERS` LIST IN CASE OF NOT LINKING AADHAR CARD WITH VOTER ID!"
