Aadi season festival buying craze in Chennai after 2 years!!

Come Aadi Season, Come Discounts!!

This is the month of Aadi and normally in this month many textile shops announce Aadi discounts to increase their sales. In Chennai, many textile shops are now buzzing with lots of activities as people queue up to buy the products for a cheaper price.

For 2 years, Chennaites could not go to the shops to buy their favourite items in the Aadi season due to Coronavirus pandemic induced lockdowns etc.  The window shopping is gaining momentum now in Chennai in this Aadi season though there are many who prefer to buy through an online process.

There are some sensational offers for the residents such as buy one get one, 50% discount and add on discounts etc. For many decades, Aadi months and Chennai crowds have been inseparable is a well known fact. There was a drop in the sales regarding textile business in the last 2 years due to Coronavirus infection spread but now many textile industries are expecting superb sales.

As per a sales executive at the famous Pothys Hyper in T. Nagar, especially on the weekends, more people throng the shops to buy clothes at reduced rates in this Aadi month. He threw light about the crowded kids section that the other sections in the shop.

It was mentioned by retail industry sources that the customers want value for their money and with reduced prices the sales have become more now.

The customers are buying based on low budget products and this was brought out by Mr. N. Koteswara Rao, manager of APCO handloom in Pondy Bazaar. He explained that the handloom prices increased during the Coronavirus pandemic and it has increased the price of the clothes to a huge extent. It is noteworthy that in the past many people used to buy 3 to 4 sarees also during the Aadi season discount offer but now due to the budget they buy just one saree.

A bank employee spoke about how there has been a decrease in the quality of clothes with respect to online shopping. To return the product, it would take a lot of time. She added that buying personally at the shops was much better.

The small stores present in Chennai city have been selling out their product quickly as the temples are opened in the Aadi season now. Many youngsters come to the textile shops to purchase the clothes as they get discounts in the shops.
