Chennai Metro Police Warning: Failure to wear face masks in public places will entail a penalty of Rs. 500/-!

The Chennai Metro City Police Department has issued a warning to the public that failure to wear face masks in public places such as Railway Stations, markets, malls, etc., will entail a penalty of Rs. 500/-!

In a notification released by the Chennai Metro City Police Department, it is mentioned:

“Due to the various preventive measures undertaken by the State Government of Tamil Nadu to prevent the spread/extent of the impact of the raging coronavirus pandemic, it was brought under control.

However, during the last 2 weeks, there has been a spurt in the fast-spreading of the coronavirus pandemic in Tamil Nadu including the Chennai Metro City!

As such, it has been strongly advised that all preventive measures such as wearing face masks without fail, keeping social distance in public gathering places, regular washing of hands with sanitisers, etc., which will control the raging spread of the coronavirus pandemic MUST BE STRICTLY FOLLOWED!

As such, the PUBLIC ARE WARNED THAT IT IS MANDATORY TO WEAR FACE MASKS AND OBSERVE SOCIAL DISTANCING IN PUBLIC GATHERING LOCATIONS such as Market areas, Malls and Supermarkets, Public and Private Sector Offices, commercial complexes, film theatres,  hospitals, Bus termini, Railway Stations, Parks, etc.

NOTE THAT FAILURE TO WEAR FACE MASKS IN THE ABOVE-MENTIONED LOCATIONS WILL ENTAIL A PENALTY OF Rs. 500/-!

As such, the Chennai Metro City Police Department once again appeals to the public to wear face masks without fail and extend their whole-hearted cooperation in this regard!!”
