New multi-level car parking facility to improve aesthetics at Chennai airport

New multi-level car parking facility at the Chennai airport would be changing the parking and vehicles flow inside the airport. The news is that this new multi-level parking facility would be opened for the use of the public in a few months.
The new multi-level parking facility is being constructed over4.25 acres and an amount of Rs 250 crores is being spent on this construction. The airport in Chennai is present over 1301.28 acres of land is known. There would be 2 wings east and west with 6 levels each on both sides of the airport metro rail station. A shopping mall, food court and a multiplex would be present on the east wing. The east wing could hold 700 cars including a mechanised car parking at the top floor. Nearly 1400 cars would be accommodated in the west wing. When the new traffic management system begins to function there would be3 entry points.
It must be noted that whiteboard cars that come and pick up the passengers arriving at the domestic or international terminal would have to travel all the way till the end of service-bridge and then take a right turn and halt at either of the terminals and come out. Similar routes must also be taken by the whiteboard cars that drop the passengers at the international terminal.
It is learnt that the vehicles coming to the domestic departure hall could take the first right turn and take the ramp of the bridge. These vehicles could even take the last right and leave the passengers in front of the hall. There would be specific points near the multi-level car parking and passengers must reach these points to get cabs.
To allow cabs near the entrance of the arrival halls, premium must be paid by those passengers who cannot walk the distance to reach specific points near the multi-level car parking. The existing car parking space would get a makeover with landscaping and this would happen when the new multi-level parking lot becomes operational. Point to be noted is that the airport has been getting more traffic and hence parking space must also be expanded. This was mentioned by some passengers.
