State Government of Tamil Nadu Saturdays wont be holidays anymore!!

The State Government of Tamil Nadu has announced that all the Registrar Offices in the State will start working on all Saturdays as well!

In a notification released in this regard by the Minister for the Commercial Taxes and Registration, Murthy, it is mentioned:

“Two Registration Zones are to be formed in the State of Tamil Nadu in Chennai Metro City and Madurai.

Keeping the Chennai Zone as the centre, a new zone will be formed in Tambar am.

To facilitate the public registering their properties, the Revenue Offices will now function on all Saturdays as well! However, a surcharge of Rs. 1000/- will be levied for registration on Saturdays!

The facility to carry out any corrections required on registered marriages through the internet will be set up for 50 Lakhs.  Just like Railways, the ‘Tatkal’ procedure is being introduced in the Tamil Nadu Revenue Department for emergency registration.

For registration in Tatkal format, a charge of Rs. 5000 will be collected.

Thi facility will be introduced on a trial basis in 100 Registrar Offices!”
