Sensational announcement regarding TN Govt Arts and Sciences colleges in TN!!

From this coming academic year, there would be various new PhD research courses and programmes in all the arts and sciences colleges in Tamil Nadu. Advanced research facilities would be established in the institutions for the sake of the students. In Tamil Nadu, there are now 887 arts and sciences colleges for lakhs of students.
It was brought out by a senior official belonging to the HED that in the beginning 10 arts and sciences colleges in the state would have new PhD programmes. To start the new programmes in these 10 colleges, approval from UGC would be sought out.
Colleges belonging to Chennai, Chengalpet, Coimbatore, Salem, Namakkal, Trichy, Dindigul, Kumbakonam and Kovilpatti would have new PhD programmes for the students. Information is that Nandanam Arts and Sciences College in Chennai would have a PhD Programme. To select the course subjects, a committee of high level officers and academicians would be formed. In the colleges selected, infrastructural development would be recommended by the panel members.
The sensational piece of information is that the research labs would be set up on par with those present in the foreign countries. As per UGC norms, the required facilities would also be appointed.
It is learnt that to promote R&D activities among the post graduate students in the government and aided colleges stipend money would be provided to full time research scholars for a period of 3 years. After completing the qualifying exams, the research scholars would be encouraged to take part in teaching programmes up to a maximum of 3 to 4 class hours per week.
