A good crowd of passengers in Chennai Metro Rail, autos and shared-autos!

As a lesser number of buses are being operated in Chennai Metro City, there has been a good increase for passengers in Chennai Metro Rail, Autos, and shared autos.

As a mark of protest for their demands that the public sector organisations MUST not be sold to the private sector and the recent price rise for petrol and diesel MUST be withdrawn, the unions of the various public sector undertakings have called for observing a token strike today (Monday, 28th March) from to 6.00 AM on 30th March.

In Tamil Nadu, various political parties including the ruling DMK have supported this and the party`s affiliated employees’ unions also have given support.

Accordingly, the today strike called by the central government employees’ unions commenced today (Monday, 28th March) throughout the country. Due to this strike, a lesser number of buses is being operated in several As such the office-goers, students and other travelling public places in the State of Tamil Nadu including the Chennai Metro City have been subjected to severe hardship!

As a lesser number of buses are being operated in the Chennai Metro City, there are teeming crowds in the Chennai Metro Stations as, and for autos and shared autos!

90% of the normal operating bus services are not running in Parry’s Corner, T Nagar, and Perambur. As there are not sufficient buses available in the Koyambedu Bus Terminus, a large number of passengers are waiting!  Further, buses to other places inclosing Kanyakumari, Salem, Erode, Vellore and the buses proceeding from Thiruvallur to other states of Andhra, Kerala and Karnataka are NOT run subjecting these passengers to great hardship!

Buses are NOT being operated from Nagercoil to Kerala! Only very few buses are being operated up to the Tamil Nadu State border of Kaniyaakkaavinai.

Out of the 760 buses normally operated in the Kanyakumari district, only 250 buses are operated.

Though the employees have been warned that salaries will be cut if they go on strike, the employees have still gone on strike!
