Water supply to be disrupted in north Chennai, why?

On Friday and on Saturday, piped water supply to some places in north Chennai would be disrupted.
The reason for this is due to the maintenance works taken up at Anna Poonga water distribution station. The quality and longevity of the 700mm feeder main line in the distribution station is given importance now and Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board or CMWSSB is having plans to check this. It is now said that the areas belonging to north Chennai such as Old Washermenpet, Royapuram, Korukkupet and Kasimedu between 9am on Friday and 8am on Saturday.
For mobile water supply for any urgent requirements, the residents of these localities can contact area engineer (Royapuram) at 8144930905.It is important to note that the consumers would not be able to pay their water and sewage tax and water supply charges for 3 days from Friday to Sunday at metro water offices or online. This would be due to the fact that the board’s software would be under maintenance. It is now said that after the maintenance work gets over the consumers from Monday onwards would be able to pay charges and taxes at the cash counters at the head offices, area depot offices and by using online mode.
