Good News for Tamil Nadu State Government Employees - Insurance cover to include heirs as well!

A Medical Insurance Scheme was introduced by the State Government of Tamil Nadu in June 2016 for the Tamil Nadu State Government Employees in Public Sector Undertakings, local administrations, and in various departments of the State Government including the University employees.
This Insurance Scheme is under the control of the Public Sector Undertaking United India Insurance. Facilities offered under this medical insurance coverage including medical treatments costing up to Rs. 4 Lakhs and the cost of some specific treatment for certain diseases and operations up to Rs. 10 Lakhs will be refunded.
This scheme concluded recently. As such, Tamil Nadu State Government selected United India Insurance again and released a Government Order of the revised Insurance coverage for medical expenses to be effective from 1st July 2021 until 30th June 2025 for 4 years.
Meanwhile, information is gathered that orders will soon be issued to include the heirs and dependents of the employees under this revised medical insurance scheme
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K Stalin announced on September 2021 in the Legislative Assembly that a new special HelpLine cenre will be set up for the State Government Employees to benefit so that no hardships are faced while deriving the benefits of the new medical Insurance Scheme.
In the above situation, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has just released new Government Order including the heirs and dependents of the employees also to be included under the revised medical insurance Scheme.
