The Chennai based IIT or Indian Institute of Technology is making sensational news for this reason!!
Soon, there will be an interdisciplinary master’s course of electric vehicles at this renowned educational institute in India. It is important to note that this dual degree programme would be offered for B. Tech and dual degree students for the sake of enhancing their research capabilities and for enabling them to engage with e-mobility. From January 2022, during the third year of the B. Tech and dual degree programme, the students would be able to enroll themselves. The total strength of this new course would be 25 students initially.
Point is that the graduates of this programme would have the skills to work in the electric vehicles product development, electric vehicles integration, vehicle aggregate engineering, communication and calibration, verification and validation, product and portfolio planning etc. It was mentioned by the head of engineering design department at IITM Mr. T. Asokan that as many as 8 departments would associate together to induct skills necessary for the student. He revealed that the department of engineering design would anchor this new course. The superb piece of information is that in the future at IITM there would be more programmes with different structures in the e-mobility space.
It was later brought out by Mr. C.S. Shankar Ram, faculty of engineering design department at IITM that those students who undergo the core courses would build a foundation for EV engineering. The students would be able to pursue electives in a specific area of specialization of their choices.
