There has been a phenomenal increase in the number of vehicles entering the Chennai Metro City every passing day!

Especially, around 2 Crores of vehicles enter the city every day from the suburban areas of the Chennai Metro City!

This leads to heavy traffic congestion in the Chennai Metro City roads!

To reduce this severe traffic congestion, as per the second mega project scheme of the Chennai Metro City Development Council, the Department of Highways has decided to improve the infrastructure facilities in the roads surrounding the Chennai Metro City.

Subsequently, in the Legislative Assembly meeting conducted a few days ago, Tamil Nadu State Minister E. V. These projects would be a joint effort with the Chennai Metro Rail.

As a follow-up confirming the above announcement,   a fund of Rs. 45 Crores has been allotted for the construction of the subway in the interior circular road junction near the Medavakkam and Madippakkam.

In a notification released in this regard by the Chief Secretary of the Highways Department, Neeraj Kumar, it is mentioned:

“An order is released to allocate a fund of Rs. 45 Crores for the construction of a subway in the Mount Medavakkam Road-Interior Ring Road. In the first Phase, a fund of Rs. 11/37 Crores is being released. “

Tamil Nadu State Minister E. V. Velu has further announced in the Legislative Assembly that a subway for pedestrians and a service road will be constructed linking East Tambaram and West Tambaram and Mudichur Road.

Again, to facilitate the commencement of the project, and also prepare the detailed draft plan, the Chief Secretary of the Highways Department, Neeraj Kumar, has ordered a release of funds of Rs. 50 Lakhs.

With the rapid growth of the above-mentioned areas, the officials have shared that this construction of subways and the elevated road would be extremely beneficial to the pedestrians as well as the vehicle drivers!
