The final voters list with individual photos is to be released on 9th December for the urban local elections!

The State Election Commission of Tamil Nadu has announced that the voters’ list with individual photos will be released on 9th December to facilitate the urban local administration election.

The Commissioner of the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission, Pazhanikumar, had a meeting with the senior officials of the State Election Commission at the office of the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission located at Koyambedu, Chennai Metro City.

During this meeting, various issues including making the requisite arrangements for the differently-abled voters to vote, and strengthening the safety monitoring in the polling booths supposed to be tenser.

In the above scenario, in a recent notification released by the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission, it is mentioned:

“The Commissioner of the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission, Pazhanikumar, conducted a video conference with all the district collectors regarding the arrangements to be done for conducting the urban local administration election including the compilation of the final voters’ list.

 In the meeting, it was announced that the voters’ list for the urban local administration election will be released on 9th December.

Various issues regarding the arrangements to be made to facilitate the smooth conducting of the urban local administration election such as:

  • Giving the voters’ list to the political parties
  • Checking the Electronic Voting Machines
  • Appointment of the zonal officers
  • Making the essential facilities such as drinking water, toilet, etc., in the polling booths
  • Setting up ramp platforms for the differently-abled citizens

Other issues discussed in the above video conference included:

  • Identifying the polling booths expected to be tense
  • Direct monitoring of the voting in such tense polling booths
  • Appointment of the monitoring officials
  • Setting up surveillance monitoring cameras in all polling booths
  • Finalizing the number of the vote-counting centres
  • Ensuring the availability of all essential thins required for the polling

Commission Secretary A. Sundaravalli, the Commissioner of the urban administrations R. Selvaraj, The urban administration Commissioner P. Ponnaiah and other officials participated in the meeting.

Before this meeting, another meeting (deciding to redraft the number of wards) was conducted earlier to discuss and decide on fixing the number of wards for the recently expanded city and metro city administrations.”
