As per the Indian Meteorological Department or IMD, it was clear that several districts belonging to Tamil Nadu would receive heavy rains for the next few days.

The IMD has mentioned that there would be heavy rains in districts like Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet, Ranipet, Vellore, Thirupatur, Krishnagiri, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Nilgris, Villupuram, Salem, Namakkal. Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai andTrichy.

The low pressure area is likely to move towards north TN in the next 2 days and there would be heavy rains in the north coastal region on 11th and 12th November. It was later mentioned by IMD that from 10th November onwards Chennai and its nearby areas would receive very heavy rains. It is known that Chennai has been reeling under heavy rains and the residents have been shifted from many low lying places etc.

It must be noted that the weather prediction radars in Chennai and Karaikal have gone offline due to some technical issue. This has led to some disruption in the weather prediction. The stretch of area between Puducherry and Thoothukudi would be a blind spot unless the Karaikal radar gets cleared of its technical issue.

It was assured by Mr. S. Balachandran, deputy director general of meteorology that the team has already arrived in Karaikal and the issue would be sorted out soon.
