The traditional yearly Brahmotsavam Festival at the globally most famous temple of Lord Venkateswara Temple at Thirumalai-Tirupathi commenced grandly with the divine flag-hoisting ceremony yesterday (Thursday, 7th October).

The annual traditional Brahmotsavam Festival of Lord Venkateswara at the Thirumalai-Tirupathi temple performed during the Tamil Calendar month of Purattasi is hugely popular all over the world!

The deities of the Lord Venkateswara and His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi are taken on a procession across the 4 corridor streets both in the mornings and evenings in different carriages during this Brahmotsavam festival! To have a Darshan of this spectacular procession of the deities, lakhs of devotees from all over the country as well as other foreign countries gather at Tirupathi!

However, over the last 2 years, because of the prevailing raging first and 2nd Phase of the coronavirus pandemic, the famous and grand Brahmotsavam festival at Tirupathi commenced this year on 7th October (Yesterday – Thursday) with a lesser number of devotees with the divine flag-hoisting ceremony.

On the first day, the deity of the Lord Malaiyappa Swamy (Venkateswara or Balaji or Srinivasa)   offered Darshan to the devotees on the 1st day of the Brahmotsavam Festival on the carriage of ‘Periya Sesha Vahanma’ (carriage of larger snake - cobra).

Usually, the procession is taken along the 4 corridor streets. This time, however, due to the restriction for the prevention of the coronavirus pandemic, the Lord offered Darshan to the devotees at the Kalyana Utsava Mandapam.

On today (Friday, 8th October), the 2nd day of the Brahmotsavam festival, the deity of Lord Srinivasa will offer Darshan on the carriage of ‘Chinna Sesha Vahanam’(Carriage on a smaller snake-cobra) at 9.00 AM and The deity of the Lord Srinivasa will offer Darshan to the devotees on the carriage of ‘Annam’ (Swan)  at 7.00 PM!
