Be careful Chennai public!! Now there is a huge increase in these crimes in Chennai city!!

The crimes committed by the juveniles and other cyber based crimes have increased in the city of Chennai. Shocking right!!
On Wednesday, NCRB or National Crime Records Bureau data that was released mentioned these above said types of crimes that have become more in Chennai. The increase in the cyber crimes have been attributed by the police department to the increase in the installation of cyber cells that clears more cases now than in the past. Various cyber crimes that have been reported in Chennai now are OTP frauds, computer based crimes like obscene content viewing, impersonation, fake news etc
It must not be forgotten that in September 2020, Mr Mahesh Agarwal, Chennai police commissioner at that time grabbed many eyeballs when he launched dedicated cyber cells to the existing 12 police districts of Chennai. By this, filing cyber related complaints by the public was made easier as the public were able to file complaints at the cyber cells in their jurisdiction.
It was later mentioned by a senior police officer that in the past there was not much manpower available. He threw light on how a small unit of personnel at the commissionerate had to receive complaints and do paper works for crime solving purposes and only fewer cases were registered. Only after the setting up of dedicated cyber cells, smaller units were trained to solve the crime. These smaller units did superbly and solved many cases. He concluded that this was the reason why the data shows an increase in cyber crime. Various crimes committed by the juveniles include theft, offences against property, burglary, robbery etc.
It must be taken into account that during the lockdown due to unemployment and financial issues many juveniles got involved in crimes. Few cases were booked due to racing down on the empty roads by some juveniles during the lockdown.
