Amazing experience!! - Anna Centenary Library and Valluvar Kottam in Chennai in new form

For nearly a decade now, the Anna Centenary library and Valluvar Kottam in Chennai have been requiring maintenance.  

The news now is that the PWD or public works department has submitted estimates to renovate these 2 important structures in Chennai. It is known that the Kotturpuram based Anna Centenary library is present in an eight storey building on 8 acres of land. The library has got nearly 5.5 lakhs books.

The renovation of the library would cost an estimated amount of Rs 34.88 crores and government order was awaited. This was according to some officers from PWD. It must be taken into note that the built up area of the library is nearly 3.75lakhs sqft.

Leaky roofs and flooring in the library auditorium would be repaired plus conference halls and children’s sections would be renovated. The renovation works would also include air conditioning of various sections, electrical work and water supply connection etc.

A PWD officer revealed that the tenders would be floated within a month and the renovation work would be over in another 9 months.

It is well known to us that Valluvar Kottam in the Chennai city was built in the memory of famous saint Tiruvalluvar and it would also be renovated by the PWD. Point is that Valluvar kottam is spread over 5.5 acres of land in Nungambakkam in Chennai and it attracts many visitors.

Various new attractions that would come up at Valluvar Kottam are musical fountains with lightning, a mobile application for virtual reality experience for the visitors etc.
