Schools reopen today - 1st September - for the 9th - 12th Standards!

With the coronavirus pandemic in the State of Tamil Nadu to a great extent, the schools are all set to be reopened on 1st September for the students of the 9th, 1oth, 11th & 12th Standards.

Due to the impact of the raging 1st wave and resurgent phase of the coronavirus pandemic, the schools and colleges have remained closed over the last 18 months and more and classes are being conducted online for both the school and college students and on the internet and TV channels.

The schools were reopened on 19th January for the 10th Standard and +2 students and on February for the 8th & 11th Standard students.

Subsequently, as there was a surge in the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the schools were closed again for the 8th, 10th, & 11th students on 20th March and 23rd April for the 12th Standard students.

However, since there has been a gradual and considerable reduction in the impact of the coronavirus pandemic spread in the last few weeks, the schools are set to be reopened for the students of the 8th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Standards from 1st September (Wednesday).

The Department of Education of the State Government of Tamil Nadu has made all the required arrangements for the reopening of schools.

The school`s complexes were being cleaned in full swing – the classrooms,  the toilets, the seats and desks were all cleaned with disinfectants/germicides.

It was announced to be mandatory for the teachers and staff of the schools to get vaccinated and the same has been carried out!

As the students of the 9th-12th Standards are to attend classes on a rotational basis, 3000 government High Schools and 3000 Government Higher Secondary Schools are being reopened.

Further, 4000 private matriculation schools and 1000 CBSE schools are ready for reopening, 20 lakhs students in on the 10th & 12th Standards and 20 lakhs students on the 11th Standards are set to attend direct classes on a rotational basis.

Classes will be conducted daily fin the schools with lesser number of students and classes will be conducted on a rotational basis or on alternate days in schools with a larger number of students.

In this regard, some school headmasters shared:

“Fever tet will be conducted on all students. Sanitisers are kept in each classroom. For the students who ho attend without face masks, arrangements have been made to issue the same to them from the school. The students have been advised to bring only hot water for health safety. O One section is set to attend classes on all Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and the next section will attend classes on all Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.”

With the schools set to reopen today (Wednesday, the 1st September, the Tamil Nadu State Government of Minister for School Education Anbil Magesh Poyyamozhi visited the Government School in Triplicane on Tuesday (Yesterday, 31st August).  At that time, the minister shared with the press reporters:

“All arrangements have been made to reopen all schools throughout Tamil Nadu. All preventive guidelines have been strictly followed to prevent the infection/spread of the coronavirus!

Classes are west to commence at 9.30 AM and conclude at 3.30 PM. Only 20 students will be learning in each classroom. Students MUST wear face masks. For the students without face masks, arrangements have been made in the schools to give the same. The respective MLAs have to help in this regard to provide face masks and sanitisers in their respective constituencies!

No sports or prayer session will be conducted. The lessons WILL NOT BE started on the 1st Day of reopening itself! It has been advised to conduct classes only after ascertaining that the students are mentally ready for receiving the lessons!

Though the syllabus is reduced, all v=basic aspects in each subject will be covered.  Presently, there will be no sports classes and prayer sessions.

The schools will strictly adhere to the given guidelines. As such, the parents need not worry in this regard and send their children to attend schools! It is the government’s responsibility to ensure the safety of the students!

In a similar vein, the CLASSES WILL CONTINUE ON KALVI TV CHANNEL! Priority has been given to school teachers in the vaccination camps. As such, 95% of the teachers have got vaccinated.

The remaining teachers MUST get vaccinated and then only start attending schools!”
